The system is simple..... No more freebies...no misuse and no over-rides...

And there is a method to the madness...

Quite contrary to my Persona.... I haven't gone out for any Party this year... Am not half drunk..... Or faking to be enjoying the shite music....

I chose to be with Mudita and my kids... Hugging them.... Listening to Romantic numbers.... Over bonfire and mulled wine!

My only regret: Why did I Not do this earlier!

City Maintenance

What baffles me is why are the Municipal Corporations this inefficient??
Yes, there has been a massive population movement towards the Urban centres if each respective State, be it it's State Capital or otherwise....Yet these Municipal Corporations have NOT been preparing for this...
Simple hygiene.... clearing if drainage, picking and Eco friendly disposal of daily waste, roads repair, traffic management especially Parking woes are extremely shabby.
I used to have this notion that the MC and the ruling State Political Party are different and so there is disparity.... Now there is BJP mostly everywhere and though I am a die-hard follower, yet am extremely irritated and unhappy with the situation.

A city like Varanasi has shown no improvement....Same for Lucknow.... Kanpur and the like....

Ban the Plastic!

Recently, I had the opportunity to travel by train in UP....Make no mistake , I have travelled a lot by train...its just that i haven't been able to travel much as of now recently

What I noticed and what brought me to write this blog is CLEANLINESS
Though a lot has been done to achieve this compared to earlier years where we (Indians) did not even care or think of it as necessary.....Yet a lot remains to be achieved

As soon as the train docks out of the platform , you are greeted with a huge amount of filth....mainly plastic!

What was more appalling was the fact that i took a taxi from my Dehradoon to Jolly Grant Airport and it drove us along a river, which had flowing water but instead of rocks on its catchment area all we could see was plastic!

We have absolutely no idea what a world we are going to leave for our younger generation....
We just dont bother.....

It is time to wake up!.....
It is ALREADY late!

India First

Have been thinking of writing about this for quite some time although i want to refrain from Political views but just couldnt...

These are strictly MY views as somebody who has travelled and studied around the entire country and lived in all corners AND Internationally!

In a nutshell, i have some strong views about the situation....especially after the Paris Accord..
This clearly shows that India is on the right path....

I have been a very vocal criticiser of the Governance that we has over the past 50-60 years. The topics that concerned me were mostly on the Environmental  sustainability ... things like Switching to Solar Power from Coal/thermal etc, Water Conservation and Reuse, Air Quality, preventing Wastages, Forests, Hygiene, Cleaning/dredging of Rivers, sewage system,  beaches, Water Bodies, Oceans, Removal or plastics and restricting its usage, Oil wastage during traffic jams, Switching the atleast Hybrid if not fully electrical mode for transport, 100% electric fleet for all Public transport, etc

Railways have a huge consumption of diesel which is quite appalling, as its far more economical to run it on electricity, and this should have been done decades ago... Also it can run on CNG/LNG etc and we should definitely reduce our dependence on imports of fossil fuels.

All cars above 10 or maybe 15 lacs has to be compulsorily be a Hybrid/electric. The logic is simple. this does not effect the common man and a person buying a costly car can afford to pay for a hybrid too. Additionally, the RTO fees should also be substantially higher. This person also enjoys the same cost of fuel as the person driving any other car...Why?

Solar Power has to be made compulsory for all Govt Buildings, PSU's, All Commercial buildings and projects, All Hotels & Guest Houses, Bus Stops, All Airports, All Railways Stations, All Group Housing Projects Both completed, WIP and Upcoming.  No maps should be passed/cleared by the Authority and Completion Certificate given if they do not comply. A heavy fine and House tax/Green Tax to be imposed if the Builder fails to do so under 12 months.
Ditto for Water Harvesting provisions, Recycling via ETP, Use of STP etc.

The Current Govt has indeed started to work on a lot of things and it is quite heartening to see that atleast someone at the top is not only thinking on these but also implementing so many of them. In a county as Big and as diverse as ours it is an immense task. An example is quite liked was: To change India is like turning a 60 bogey train around...its not like taking a simple U-Turn on a cycle! It will take its time.

The Namami Gange Project is a very good thought, tough tried out by several Govt previously, has been a success. It shows the importance of River cleaning, dredging etc, but it also has to focus on the other rivers in India. The Interlinking of all rivers has a huge project and work should begin upon that. There will always be people telling as to why it should'nt be done..... But is has to be in National Interest.

There is so much that can go on ....and i will...whenever possible i will edit/update this....

Learnings from the Last Fiscal

So its the 1st Of April......
Another start to another New Year......
And like all previous years...this year too has some takeaways.....

Focus..... On simpler details is the key
Daily Monitoring of Key parameters... Don't leave it to Staff/GM?CEO or whoever!
Focus on Cost Parameters.... The Earning is the same....Costs have to be within the defined ratio
Daily expenses....if not monitored will lead to pilferage
All ADJ has to be personally monitored
Patience.....

The Environment Crusader that i believe that i am ....i believe that i should set an example

I do keep doing my bit...
Trust me...i am finicky.....to the point of being manaical....
i just cant see extra lights switched on...
the tap running uselessly while brushing or soaping up or while bathing....
I cant waste paper...i just 'have to' use it from both sides....as a fair copy or rough and shred it to pieces and use it as small note pad....and then instead of shredding them in dustbin i have an office shredder which then is given away for recycling!
i switch off my vehicle at red lights....

Yes i am CRAZY!

And NO i am NOT a MISER!

I feel responsible for what i do....This gives me immense satisfaction that i haven't burdened this beautiful Earth with my being and try and leave a positive impact and save as much as i can. and i detest it when i see people wasting all these resources irresponsibly.....and i cannot and will not stay quiet when i see such wastage in-front of me. Judge me as much as you want to!

Of Travelling & more...

It's just been crazy travelling since the last 2 months and things are brighter for the next 2 as well...

Started with Post Diwali travel to Moradabad....Followed up with Orchha trip with the Table.... Back again to Moradabad...... Then to Kanpur....

Oops did I Miss Delhi trip at the beginning of February.....

Since I am not a photo freak, you will not find much action on my Social media ...And I prefer to keep it that ways....

IIM Takeaways...

Besides the coveted T-Shirt and the Laptop Bag that I received from the Institution....I had a few takeaways which i would like to pen down...

1) Do a detailed SWOT Analysis of each role that you play.... As a CEO, A father, A son etc
2) Don't expect loyalty...its a give and take contract now!

The Germans....

Give a task to us , we show up on time and finish in the budget.

The world may not love us but they sure do need us as long as we deliver because if we don't , we loose our right to exist and our culture dies with us!
